You will be key to driving improvement in the health and wellbeing of over 800,000 residents, and influence policy at the highest level within the Council and its local and regional partners.

As Director of Public Health and Communities, you will take on a key strategic and systems leadership role across the Council and our partnerships, including the new East Midlands County Combined Authority, to integrate and reform health, care, and community services to improves outcomes for our residents. You’ll take a cross system approach to deliver our ambitious Health and Wellbeing Strategy, addressing complex health inequalities and ensuring that our communities remain safe, healthy, and thriving, and that the building blocks of good health and wellbeing are embedded in the DNA of the Council and our partners.. Working with our Executive Director of Place Derek Higton, you will be pivotal in developing and driving placed-based leadership with community and regional health & wellbeing at its core. You’ll lead to the commissioning and delivery of critical front line public health and communities’ services, looking to drive continuous improvement in service delivery and outcomes across a diverse portfolio od services.

We are looking for a visionary leader with a deep understanding of the social, economic, and health challenges facing diverse populations. You will have proven experience in public health leadership and a passion for driving improved community outcomes. The successful candidate will be able to operate in complex partnership settings, navigating the demands of local government, health, and broader public and community organisations.
